Did Auni survive her first week in UKM ?

Life treats everyone with different things, experiences and memories. Some of which are as sweet as sugar and some are as bitter as hemlock. There are few things and incidents that kept in our mind for lifetime. Everyone has memorable day, which not only gives them pleasure but also cherish them whenever the recall. Similarly, I also have many memories but the one which makes me happy is my first week in NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF MALAYSIA (UKM).

First day in university is always exciting because of the new environment, new people and obviously the new educational system. When I arrived there, I found the college campus were really beautiful. I started loving the environment. There was a welcome party for the newcomers. The seniors helped us carrying the bag and also they treated us very well. I found all the newly admitted in high spirits, they were all happy to make friends. Later at night, all the newcomers were asked to gather around and here is the beginning of the orientation week. We were introduced by residential college committee and they started “getting to know you” sessions, informational sessions and advising sessions. I learnt a lot of things about college policies, general rule, honor code and more.

On the next day, we went to the signature sites of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia which is Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak (DECTAR). I was fascinated by the interior. The hall was so huge. I feel inspired to study hard and I want the hall witnessing me receive my first degree. There is also sports day during our orientation week. But this event were held at night, which is rare for me. We have twelves different college, flags of different colours were fluttering all around the ground. The parade performance from each college were very exciting. I can see how much the effort they pour to make it successful. Besides, we were served by fireworks show. We enjoy the view while singing “Standing In The Eyes of The World” together.

On the last day, all the newcomers directed to attend pledge recites ceremony. I can still remember the moment when I raised my hand and following the pledge. I am nervous and excited. It was a mix feelings as I am now official student of universiti kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). It was worth attending because the event not only introduce the university life but also make me interact with different students. It helps me to not become a loner as I can share experiences and comforting one another.

Here is how it looks like on the last day of MAW
